Rehabilitation in OBPP depends upon various factors like level of injury, severity of injury, time and age of the child. We at CBPC, start with graded passive range of motion exercises for infants less than 2 months of age. This is followed by low frequency electric stimulation along with passive range of motion exercises. Depending upon the severity of denervation and muscle power, interrupted galvanic (IG) or Surged faradic (SF) type of current is used. Active assisted task-oriented exercises are started in older children.
Kinesio taping is being used to stabilize shoulder joint and facilitate poor movements. Functional electric stimulation (FES) and Aquatic therapy are also being incorporated to facilitate and strengthen movements of the affected limb.
